STEP2. REGULATIONS - FOOD SAFETY LAWS
Important regulations checklist for
individuals starting a mobile catering business.
1.
Register your new mobile catering business with your local
council at least 28 days prior to trading.
2.
Apply for any roadside trading licences that councils may
require and if you intend to open your mobile catering business late you may
need to apply for a council entertainment licence.
3.
You may be required to pay business rates even if you
operate your mobile catering business from home, check with and notify your
local council.
4.
Notify the inland revenue and national insurance
contributions office within three months of your employment status and becoming
self employed.
5.
Notify HM Customs & Excise immediately if you anticipate
that your annual turnover will exceed the VAT registration threshold.
6.
Notify any government departments where you may be claiming
family or unemployment benefits.
7.
Obtain adequate specialist mobile catering public liability
insurance cover and if you intend to employ help, obtain employers liability
insurance cover.
8.
Required by law, every business premises owner or or
occupier is required to carry out a fire risk assessment on their buildings.

9.
Undertake a food handing and food safety training course and
obtain at least to the minimum level basic food safety and handling certificate.
10.
Prepare a written food safety management system.
